Having the ability to access the internet today is a reality on the agenda and for many people it is important, especially for work or personal reasons, to be able to check their email at any time.

To do this, it is necessary to configure the email client correctly, and with this tutorial, we will see just how to configure any email on the mobile phone when the same fails to complete the auto-configuration by itself, requiring instead the manual entry of the parameters of the server (IMAP or POP3). The following process is for any email; let it be SBCGlobal email, Bellsouth Email, AT&T email or any other email. There is nothing that is going to be changed in the process, so you can use it for any email that you use.

If you have an iPhone or other IOS device, go from your menu to “Settings” then select “Email, contacts, calendars”. From here you have to choose “Add Mail Account “. At this point select “New account” and here you will have to enter the server configuration data (POP3 or IMAP) and finally click on “Save”.

If you have a Windows Mobile device, instead, from the Home, choose the Mail section, then click on “New account” and select the desired email provider: then select “Other” and follow the advanced procedure, entering server parameters.

If you have an Android phone, go to the Home and select “Mail” in the application menu. From here, you must enter the “Choose a mail provider” tab and at this point select “Other (POP3/IMAP)”.

Finally, if you have a Blackberry smartphone, go to Settings, then select the “Account” item, click on the central blue button at the bottom “Add Account”, then always the bottom button “Advanced”. From there select the item POP3 (or IMAP) and enter the configuration data released by your provider.

How to Configure Email on Mobile Phone

Before proceeding with the steps, it is important that you know the difference between IMAP and POP3. When you configure your email with IMAP, then all the devices that you open your email on will be synced together. The email you get on your smartphone will be there on the tablet, computer and all other devices. Whereas, in POP3, this will not be possible.

Since the configuration of the email client on mobile devices is not so immediate, with this tutorial we will see how to easily configure the email address on your mobile phone when it cannot complete the auto-configuration by itself.

You can go through the below-mentioned procedure in order to configure your email on any device, let it be BlackBerry, Android, iOS or Windows.

  • From the menu, select the “Settings” item, then click on “Account”
  • If you use an email address associated with a web domain you will need to manually configure the server data, then go to “Advanced” and (we suggest using) then “POP3”
  • At this point, you need to enter the web server configuration data (we suggest using the SSL settings for security and privacy issues) taking care to enter the correct port for both the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) servers.
  • Set the desired synchronization intervals and periodicity (we suggest setting the lower ones to get a view as close to real-time as possible) and click on “Save” to positively end your configuration!
